About Me

Hi there, and welcome to JerryLambert.net! This is home base for Become Nostalgic About Today and The Brown Parachute Club, as well as the upcoming YouTube Channel, Fugly Old Man Fitness. This summary is designed to introduce you to the website and give you a little background on why these blogs were created. First a little about me. My name is Jerry Lambert. I live in suburban Detroit, with my wife and our beagle-basset hound. In addition to our crazy dog, my wife and I also have grown two sons who have left the nest.

Back in February, 2014, I was laid off from my IT job of almost 26 years. Unfortunately, I was in good company on that dreadful day, since 18 of my fellow employees were also shown the door. Since I was 54 years old at the time, my job prospects were pretty slim. Especially since the job market seemed more focused on part time employment in the post-Obamacare era. One day, while driving for Uber, I said to one of my passengers, “Everyone always tells you to save for retirement, but they never tell you what to do if you don’t make it TO retirement!”

The idea for The Brown Parachute Club was born. What followed were a series of articles aimed at my fellow seasoned citizens in the 55-65 age group. Unfortunate folks like me, who were looking for full-time work, but were unable to find businesses willing to hire someone in our age bracket. If this has happened to you, I want you to know that you are not alone. Hopefully, you will find these articles useful and enjoyable.

Become Nostalgic About Today is a different story altogether. A true labor of love. As I have made my way through life, I have experienced random moments of nostalgia, that seemed filled with magic. For instance, listening school kids playing on a nearby playground, while walking my dog Skittles on a crisp autumn morning. Instant nostalgia.

That example was the inspiration for Become Nostalgic About Today. Special moments in life that people seem to pass by without even noticing. The title of this blog is based on the feeling I get when know I am experiencing something I will remember for years to come. Even if it’s as something as simple as hearing kids running around a playground on a beautiful fall day.

I hope these articles provide you with some laughs, cause you to reminisce, and provide useful information for your job hunt. As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions for both blogs, as well as the upcoming fitness channel on YouTube.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you come back soon!
